Jordan Cudney and Tyler Powell each picked up a win in Collegiate League All-Star games this past week.  Cudney pitched the fifth inning for the West All-Stars, facing three and striking out one.  In the bottom half of the fifth the West took the lead and never gave it up, giving Cudney the win in the Cal Ripken Senior League All-Star game.

Soccer (W): Erik And Lindsey Ozimek Join Coaching Staff For Women's Soccer http://abbeyathletics.athleticsite.com/article.asp?articleID=811

Belmont Abbey College has announced the appointments of Erik and Lindsey Ozimek as women’s soccer coaches.  Erik Ozimek joins the Abbey from Boot Room Soccer School, where he is the co-founder. Prior to Boot Room, Ozimek enjoyed a professional playing career with five teams, including the San Jose Earthquakes and D.C. United of Major League Soccer as well as the Portland Timbers and the Atlanta Silverbacks of the A-League. He also played with the Charlotte Eagles in 2004.

Belmont Abbey Head Softball Coach Kenny Terry has announced the signing of Gina Antonucci for the 2009 season. Antonucci is a two-time all-state catcher at Central Davidson High School in Lexington, North Carolina.

Former Belmont Abbey College Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach, and current Boston Celtics assistant coach Kevin Eastman earned the title of World Champion after the Celtics won its first Larry O'Brien Trophy in 22 years with a four-games-to-two series win over the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the Celtics' 17th NBA title.

Baseball: Alex Castellanos Drafted By The St. Louis Cardinals In Tenth Round Of 2008 Major League Baseball Draft http://abbeyathletics.athleticsite.com/article.asp?articleID=802

Belmont Abbey second baseman Alex Castellanos was drafted in the tenth round, 305th overall, by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2008 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. He was the first Conference Carolinas player selected in the draft. He is the first Belmont Abbey baseball player to be drafted since 1972, when Henry Holmes was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 13th round.
